Two weeks ago it was painting with wet charcoal, then painting dry pastel…now its painting wet pastel. wow!  I started with a pencil drawing and shaved pastel dust off my pastel sticks with a knife.  Then add a little water and your painting!  The color was tricky on this one though…too much water and your color is lighter than the pastel it came from.  Let your pastel paint sit and the dust soaks up more water and your paint is darker and thicker.  Also darker pastels usually go on closer to the color of the stick and wash out less with added water than the lighter ones.  This all meant lots of guessing folks.  If you wanted a super-big-detail version go here.

I changed it up a little this weekend and did a charcoal painting.  In case your not sure, thats when I use a knife to shave off some charcoal dust and then use a brush and water to paint the dust onto paper.  Click on the image for a much bigger version.
