Two weeks ago it was painting with wet charcoal, then painting dry pastel…now its painting wet pastel. wow! I started with a pencil drawing and shaved pastel dust off my pastel sticks with a knife. Then add a little water and your painting! The color was tricky on this one though…too much water and your color is lighter than the pastel it came from. Let your pastel paint sit and the dust soaks up more water and your paint is darker and thicker. Also darker pastels usually go on closer to the color of the stick and wash out less with added water than the lighter ones. This all meant lots of guessing folks. Your most recent stuff is reminding me of the paintings that Gary Larson used to do for his Far Side compilation books. (that’s a compliment, fyi)
